JOIN US for the 2nd Annual DomCon Second Line Memorial Parade!
FREE & OPEN to the public
The DomCon Second Line Parade is a chance to dress up and strut your stuff on the French Quarter streets...as well as an opportunity to pay your respects to the BDSM community members we've lost.
A uniquely Big Easy custom, the second line parade began with funeral processions of mourners carrying parasols for sun protection and handkerchiefs for drying their tears.
Traditionally, as they left the cemetery the brass jazz band played a sad dirge, then broke out into joyful music celebrating life, as the mourners pranced waving their parasols and hankies.
Now, second line parades are held for many occasions, and anyone on the street is welcome to join in the revelry as everyone dances to being alive.
So, following the tradition.. we encourage paraders to bring photos in remembrance of BDSM community members who have passed away.
We will take an official photo then be led by our Parade Queen, full police escort, 7-piece brass jazz band, and Grand Marshal.
Saturday, Oct 12th 2019 at 8 pm
Gather at the Canal Street hotel entrance of the Astor Crowne Plaza hotel, 739 Canal St, New Orleans, LA 70130.
We will make a 10 block loop through the French Quarter, about 1/2 mile long and return to hotel after about 45 minutes.
Fetish wear, formal or casual attire is appropriate, as are masks, for anonymity.
However, in the spirit of consensuality, we ask that you leave the toys, leashes, and BDSM play for the DomCon play party afterwards.
**Separate ticket required for DomCon Play Party click here to purchase.
SEE YOU THERE...
This is our chance to honor those we have lost, and to live life to the fullest with our community…in high style.
